What to bring to your appointment
To ensure an accurate physical and radiological assessment, please bring:
- Original MRI Scan Films & CDs: Always bring the physical film sheets or digital DICOM CD in addition to printed reports. The surgeon reviews the actual images directly.
- Previous X-Rays, CT Scans, or Bone Density (DEXA) Reports: If you have had previous spinal imaging or osteoporosis screenings, bring them along.
- Current Prescription & Medication List: Details of pain relievers, nerve medications, or anti-inflammatory drugs you have taken.
- Physiotherapy or Previous Treatment History: Information on exercises, injections, or therapies previously attempted.
When to seek immediate emergency medical care
Do not wait for a scheduled outpatient consultation if you develop red-flag spinal emergency symptoms: sudden loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin or buttocks (saddle anesthesia), severe progressive leg weakness (foot drop), or unbearable pain following major physical trauma. These require emergency hospital evaluation.
